About Open Access
Here at TLF, we have adopted an open-access model for referrals and new clients. Our goal with providing open access hours is to be here for you when you need us. So, what does that mean for you and your clients? TLF does not schedule any intake appointments, regardless of the client or the referral source. When potential clients call us, our administrative support staff and/or the intake coordinator will inform the caller that they may come in during TLF’s open access hours, to complete the consent paperwork and the clinical intake. The times for open access for Baltimore City are as follows:
Monday-Thursday: 9:00am- 12:00pm, 1:00pm– 4:30pm
Friday: 9:00am- 4:30pm
When clients come in, it will be first come, first served. If more than one client comes in at the same time, a list is created for those that are willing to wait. New clients will first meet with the intake coordinator to complete all consent forms and other intake paperwork. The intake coordinator will verify insurance status and get an initial authorization. The intake coordinator will review the consent forms and ensure that the client understands.
While the client is meeting with the intake coordinator, the administrative support staff will determine if there is a staff clinician with an immediate opening. If so, the administrative support staff will put the client on the schedule for that clinician. If no clinicians are available, they will be put on the schedule for the Director of Clinical Programs (DCP).
Once the intake paperwork is complete, the new client will meet with the available clinician or the DCP. Once the initial clinical intake is completed, the clinician working on the intake will walk the new client to the front desk to schedule a second appointment, which will focus on completing the clinical intake, if not completed in the first session, or on developing the treatment plan. This second appointment will be scheduled with the clinician who completed the intake, within 3-5 business days from the date of intake.
Once the intake and treatment plan have been completed, the DCP will assign the case to an appropriate clinician based on clinical issue and clinician availability. During the clinical intake and treatment plan development, the clinician will provide the client with a brief orientation to treatment at TLF.
