Substance Abuse

Therapeutic Living for Families provides addiction treatment and recovery services for those experiencing problems related to substance abuse. We provide short, intermediate and long term substance abuse and mental health services for both adults and adolescents. With effective services, education and support, addiction can be successfully treated so our clients can live full, meaningful and productive lives in the community.

We offer the following substance abuse treatment and education programs:

Level I Outpatient

The Outpatient Program (OP) offers individual therapy once per week for adults and adolescents (over the age of 14) who are experiencing behavioral and/or emotional problems due to substance abuse. This program is designed for clients who do not require Intensive Outpatient Treatment and need a less restrictive scope of services. Interventions are conducted by a qualified and competent professional staff, who provide individual counseling once per week, or more often if needed.

Level II.I Intensive Outpatient

The Intensive Outpatient (IOP) program is a six- to eight-week structured substance abuse program for adults and adolescents (over the age of 14) who are experiencing behavioral and/or emotional problems due to substance abuse. This program is designed for clients who do not require Partial Hospitalization Treatment and need a less restrictive scope of services. The IOP Treatment Program employs a multi-modal treatment perspective, developed according to each client’s individual needs. Treatment consists of a broad range of therapies, dependent on the client’s nature and the severity of his or her illness. Therapeutic interventions are highly structured, and include group therapy, psycho pharmacology (by prescription), and psycho-educational groups with substance abuse education. Interventions are conducted by a qualified and competent professional staff, who provide individual counseling once per week, or more often if needed. For adolescents, the the program typically consists of 15 hours of treatment per week (or five days per week, approximately three hours per day). For adults, the program typically consists of nine to 20 hours of treatment per week (or three-five days per week, approximately three hours per day). Clients who are appropriate for this level of treatment will meet the current edition of the ASAM criteria for Level II.5.

Level II.5 Partial Hospitalization 

The Partial Hospitalization Treatment Program is a highly structured, individualized treatment program for adults and adolescents (over the age of 14) who are experiencing behavioral and/or emotional problems due to substance abuse. This program is designed for clients who are not in need of 24-hour inpatient service. Clients fall into two categories: those at high risk for relapse, and those who require a higher degree of external control and support for a drug-free lifestyle.

The Partial Hospitalization Treatment Program employs a multi-modal treatment perspective that is developed according to each client’s individual needs. Treatment consists of a broad range of therapies, dependent upon the client’s nature and the severity of his or her illness. Therapeutic interventions are highly structured, and include group therapy, psycho pharmacology (by prescription), and psycho-educational groups with substance abuse education. Interventions are conducted by a qualified and competent professional staff, who provide individual counseling once per week, or more often if needed. The program consists of 30 hours of treatment per week (or five days per week, approximately six hours per day). Clients who are appropriate for this level of treatment will meet the current edition of the ASAM criteria for Level II.1.
